Morris Seeks 'Pre-Packaged' Bankruptcy

Morris Publishing, which owns 13 daily papers, including The Times-Union of Jacksonville, Fla., plans to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the next week.

The Georgia-based chain said in a release it would file a "prepackaged plan" that already has approval from a majority of creditors, in federal bankruptcy court by Tuesday. It would cut the company's $415 million debt by nearly 70%. -- Joe Strupp
